The rapid cooling of hot glass leads to a buildup of stress in the material. This stress is usually invisible to the naked eye, but it becomes visible with the use of polarizing filters. This ongoing series experiments with introducing stress into hot glass, revealing the real-time formation and dissipation of rainbow-colored stress patterns.
